Jana Sena Party (JSP) President and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan on Thursday (April 16, 2026) welcomed the introduction of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam Amendment Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha, calling it a historic step by the BJP-led NDA government towards securing women their rightful place in governance through 33% reservation in legislative bodies.
In a post on X, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said the journey of women’s empowerment was deeply rooted in India’s constitutional foundations, shaped by the founding mothers of the Indian Constitution such as Dakshayani Velayudhan, Hansa Mehta, Durgabai Deshmukh, Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit and Rajkumari Amrit Kaur, whose contributions to the framing of the Constitution ensured dignity, equality and justice for generations of Indian women.

The achievements of women in different fields reflected a simple truth that when opportunity meets talent, women lead, excel and inspire nations, he said. It was in that spirit that the Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha.
The JSP had always stood firmly for women’s empowerment, not merely in words but through its actions, he said.

The party’s commitment to 33% reservation for women, as promised in the 2019 elections, reflected its belief in equal opportunity and rightful representation, he said, adding that the Bill was not about granting new rights but restoring what rightfully belonged to women.
