The Thiruvananthapuram region of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) outperformed other regions in the Class X examinations this year too.
When the board declared the 2026 Class X results on Wednesday evening, the Thiruvananthapuram region shared the top spot with Vijayawada.
The region, comprising Kerala and Lakshadweep, registered a pass percentage of 99.79, same as that last year. Vijayawada was the joint topper with Thiruvananthapuram last year too.
As many as 66,522 students (33,215 boys and 33,307 girls) had appeared for the examinations from the Thiruvananthapuram region. Of them, 66,384 (33,126 boys and 33,258 girls) passed.
Girls did better than boys, registering a pass percentage of 99.85 against 99.7 for boys.
As many as 65,915 students (32,922 boys and 32,993 girls) passed in Kerala, registering a pass percentage of 99.8 (99.7% for boys and 99.86% for girls).
In Lakshadweep, as many as 469 (204 boys and 265 girls) passed the examinations, registering a pass percentage of 99.15 (99.5% for boys and 98.88% for girls).
While Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in the region registered 100% pass, Kendriya Vidyalayas scored 99.95% results.
In the children with special needs category, all 580 students who sat for the examinations passed, registering 100% pass. Of them, 39 students secured more than 90% marks and six had more than 95%.
Ninety-nine students were placed in the ‘compartment’ category (0.15%).
Students from 1,355 schools (1,344 in Kerala and 11 in Lakshadweep) had appeared for the examination from 273 centres (264 in Kerala and nine in Lakshadweep) in the Thiruvananthapuram region.
Chennai reclaimed the third spot this year with a pass percentage of 99.58, followed by Bengaluru 98.91%.
The overall pass percentage in the country was 93.7, 0.04 percentage points more than that in 2025.
The CBSE had introduced two board exams for Class 10 this year. It was mandatory for students to appear in the first edition held in February-March, the results of which have been declared.
The second edition is scheduled for May.
