Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister S. Ramesh, senior officials, and representatives of various political parties and community organisations on Saturday paid floral tributes to the statue of Perumpidugu Mutharaiyar in Tiruchi on the occasion of his 1,351st birth anniversary.
The tribute was led by Mr. Ramesh at the statue located on Bharathidasan Road in the city. Deputy Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Assembly M. Ravishankar, Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board Chairman Ku. Pa. Krishnan, and Tiruchi Collector V. Saravanan were present.
Manapparai MLA R. Kathiravan, Tiruverumbur MLA Navalpattu S. Viji, Musiri MLA M. Vignesh, and Tiruchi Corporation Commissioner L. Madhubalan also paid homage.
Later, floral tributes were paid at the memorial hall complex near the Tiruchi Central Bus Stand, where a statue of Perumpidugu Mutharaiyar has been installed by the Department of Information and Public Relations.
Mr. Ramesh described Perumpidugu Mutharaiyar as a valiant ruler who had administered the region efficiently for several years and emerged as an emperor among kings.

DMK principal secretary K.N. Nehru led the homage organised by the party’s Tiruchi Central and North district units. Former Minister S. Meyyanathan, Central district secretary Vairamani, Mayor Mu. Anbazhagan, and several party functionaries participated.
The Tiruchi South District DMK, led by district secretary Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, garlanded the statue of the king.
Leaders and cadre of the AIADMK, led by district secretaries C. Karthikeyan, R. Manoharan, and N. Yoganathan, garlanded the statue and paid tributes along with organisation secretary Rathinavel and other party functionaries.
