In a bid to ensure optimal utilisation and performance of cath labs in the State, the Health department has proposed rationalisation of cardiologist posts from various government medical college hospitals by upgrading, redeploying and surrendering of “excess” posts. However, a section of government doctors and associations have once again argued that redeployment is not a sustainable solution, and that creating new posts is essential in the long run.
In an official communication to deans of government medical college hospitals, the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) and Research sought details for rationalisation of cardiologist posts such as status of posts proposed for surrender, to be upgraded and to be redeployed.
