With peak summer days ahead and storage in city’s drinking water reservoirs witnessing a mild dip, improvement works on canals linking waterbodies have been expedited to enable Krishna water inflow. Supply from Andhra Pradesh is likely to resume by May second week.
Every summer, concerns over the availability of drinking water escalate to match the demand. Chennai Metrowater, however, said the water storage position for Chennai was stable this year, and daily water supply could be sustained for a minimum of five months without rainfall.
