Social worker Bisathi Bharath from Anantapur district has been honoured with the prestigious Jal Champion Award 2026 by WaterAid International in recognition of his outstanding contribution towards Water Conservation, WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) initiatives, and promoting safe drinking water awareness among communities and youth across India.
Mr. Bharath has actively worked at the grassroots level, inspiring thousands of young minds towards environmental protection, water conservation, sanitation awareness, and sustainable community practices. Through various awareness campaigns, workshops, youth engagement programmes, cleanliness drives, and community initiatives, he has created an impact in spreading the importance of water preservation and public hygiene.
The award recognises his dedicated efforts in supporting the vision of a clean, healthy, and water-secure India. His initiatives have especially empowered rural youth and communities to actively participate in social transformation and sustainable development activities.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bharath expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Water Aid International and appreciated the continuous support of the officials of the Jal Shakti Department and youth volunteers who stood with him in creating awareness and driving meaningful change at the grassroots level.
