Strengthening the representation of Backward Classes in education, employment, and governance, and addressing structural inequalities through data-driven policy interventions as the aim, the All India OBC Students' Association organised a roundtable to deliberate on the results of Telangana SEEEPC Survey and the road to caste Census 2027.
Addressing the gathering virtually, Rajya Sabha member P. Wilson criticised the Central government’s stance on caste enumeration and called its response to his letter on including OBCs as a distinct category in the census as “unsatisfactory, evasive, and disappointing.” He urged the government to explicitly incorporate OBC data into the census framework and demanded that reservation for OBCs be increased to at least 50% in proportion to their population.
