A man aged between 35 and 40 was found dead in the Velliangiri Hills in Coimbatore district on Sunday morning, taking the toll of persons who died during the ongoing annual pilgrimage season to seven.
According to the Forest Department, pilgrims found the man lying unconscious on a rock at the seventh hill, on the way to the peak, around 3.30 a.m. After being alerted by the pilgrims, Forest Department staff informed a doctor posted at a camp on the sixth hill. The doctor trekked to the seventh hill and examined the man, who was found dead. The staff could not identify the deceased as he did not carry identification cards or a mobile phone. The man wore a purple t-shirt and blue shorts.
