A 19-year-old college student died and another sustained grievous injuries in an accident on Sunday (May 10, 2026) night.
The deceased, D. Kishore (19), who was a resident of Nainampatti near Attaiyampatti, was a first-year engineering student in a private college.
On Sunday afternoon, he was headed to Kakkapalayam from Attaiyampatti by bike. When he reached Kandarkulamanickam, his bike collided with another bike that was driven by P. Manoj (20), a resident of Koolipatti and a third-year polytechnic student. During the accident, the duo sustained grievous injuries.
Kishore was admitted to Salem Government Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries on Sunday night. Manoj was admitted to a private hospital in Tiruchengode. The Attaiyampatti police registered a case and are investigating further.
