A six-year-old boy sustained head injuries after unidentified persons pelted stones at a moving suburban train near Tiruvallur on Monday night, the police said.
According to the Government Railway Police (GRP), when Subburaj, his wife Amaravathi, and their son Kishanth, of Veppampattu near Tiruvallur, were returning home by suburban, a group of four to five youngsters threw stones at the moving train between the Putlur and Tiruvallur railway stations. One of the stones struck Kishanth on the head while he was seated near the window, causing bleeding injuries.
Railway staff halted the train after Kishanth’s parents and other passengers raised an alarm. Kishanth was provided first aid, and the train was stopped at the Thiruninravur railway station, from where he was taken to the Tiruvallur Government Medical College Hospital for further treatment.
The GRP registered a case and launched an investigation to identify those involved in the stone-pelting incident.
