In what is being claimed as a first in central Karnataka, the doctors of SS Narayana Superspeciality Centre in Davangere have successfully performed the Modified Bentall Procedure, a highly complex open-heart surgery.
Addressing the press in Davangere on Saturday (May 2), cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon Gautham said that the life-saving operation was performed on a 43-year-old patient, who was admitted to the hospital with severe chest pain and a critically dilated aortic root that was at immediate risk of rupture.
