The 140th May Day was observed across Tiruchi and neighbouring districts on Friday with flag-hoisting ceremonies, rallies, and public meetings organised by trade unions affiliated to the Communist parties.
In Tiruchi, the Communist Party of India (CPI) and its trade union AITUC held programmes at over 35 locations. The events began early in the morning with flag hoisting led by local functionaries and elected representatives across multiple wards. More than 50 cadre participated in two-wheeler rallies, distributing sweets, and taking out processions that culminated at the district office.
