Three persons were arrested by the city police in connection with a murder case on Monday. According to the police, A. Vijay (30), a resident of South Alagapuram and a collection agent of a private bank, was allegedly in a relationship with a married woman residing at Solampallam. She ended the relationship with him a few months ago.
In the early hours of June 10, Vijay, along with his friend Karthick, went to Solampallam and quarrelled with the woman. On hearing the commotion, her husband Soundararajan (30) and their relatives attacked the duo, who sustained injuries and were admitted to the Government Hospital in Salem.
Subsequently, the Soormangalam police registered a case and arrested Soundararajan and his relative Diwanraj, who were remanded.
On Sunday evening, Vijay succumbed to injuries. Following this, the police altered the case to murder. The police arrested P. Vijay (29), C. Vinoth (34) and T. Goutam (22), residents of Solampallam, on Monday. They were remanded.
