The Telangana government will launch ‘Indiramma Bima’ insurance scheme across the State on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day on June 2, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said.

“The scheme envisaging ₹5 lakh insurance protection for 1.15 crore families in the State will be launched as the State Formation Day gift,” he added.

He was speaking at a function organised by the District Congress Committee to felicitate the newly appointed chairman of Sthambadri Urban Development Authority (SUDA) P. Durgaprasad and District Grandhalaya Samstha Chairman Mohd. Khader Baba in Khammam on Sunday.

The ‘Indiramma Bima’ scheme would act as a protective shield for 1.15 crore families in the State, irrespective of caste, religion or economic status. Officials will soon visit every household to collect details related to the scheme, he said. He said the kin of distressed farmers, who died by suicide, had to struggle even for securing minimal financial assistance during the BRS rule.

On women empowerment initiatives, Mr. Vikramarka said a State-wide initiative aimed at allotting solar power plants to women self-help groups will be formally launched at Rajupalem village in Errupalem mandal of Khammam district on May 27. Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, Khammam MP R. Raghuram Reddy and others were present.
