Gagandeep Singh Bedi, Additional Chief Secretary, Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department, reviewed the progress of various ongoing infrastructure projects being executed by Chennai Metrowater on Saturday.
A press release said Mr. Bedi inspected the works to construct a desalination plant with a capacity of 400-million-litres-a-day in Perur at a cost of ₹5,814.57 crore. He directed the officials to complete the various components of the project within a stipulated period.
He also reviewed the progress of sewerage projects worth ₹686.54 crore at Madhavaram, Mathur, Vadaperumbakkam, and Theeyambakkam.
In addition to Mathur Ponniamman Koil Street, works are now being carried out using trenchless technology on GNT Road. Nearly 18,581 sewer connections would be provided. Mr. Bedi visited the sewage pumping station in Kolathur Venus Nagar and the Pukhraj Nagar water distribution station.
