The police have conducted a Statewide crackdown on history-sheeters, habitual offenders, narcotics offenders, and absconding accused as part of a preventive policing drive.
The operation was carried out on the instructions of Director-General of Police Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal.
Between May 28 and June 10, continuous surveillance and verification drives targeting history-sheeters and non-history-sheet offenders were carried out across the State.
During the drive, the police verified the details of 36,740 history-sheeters, and 1,328 among them were arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
During the special drive on non-bailable warrant (NBW) execution from June 1 to June 10, 2,939 NBWs have been executed through sustained enforcement efforts. Efforts are also being undertaken for the execution of pending NBWs and securing the absconding accused.
The police teams have seized 231 kg of ganja and 4,073 narcotic tablets, including 22.55 g of methamphetamine, 0.006 g of MDMA, and 362.5 kg of gutkha product. A total of 202 offenders were arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
All Commissioners of Police, Superintendents of Police and heads of special units have been instructed to continue intensive monitoring through regular checks, preventive measures and close surveillance to prevent criminal activities and maintain law and order in the State.
