The Jamiat Ulama Society stepped forward to assist an underprivileged inmate who was unable to pay a court-imposed fine thereby, delaying his release from Kalaburagi Central Prison.
Ramesh S. Kalagurthi, who was serving his sentence at the Central Prison, was unable to clear a fine amount of ₹18,000 due to severe financial hardship.
His release process was consequently held up until the matter came to the notice of Jamiat Ulama Society.
Responding swiftly, the organisation paid the full fine amount on his behalf enabling the legal formalities for his release to be completed.
In-charge Chief Superintendent of Kalaburagi Central Prison Rakesh Kamble has noted that such acts of kindness are likely to inspire similar humanitarian efforts.
The Prisons Department has also lauded the organisation’s continued commitment to supporting inmates in distress.
Jamiat Ulama Society’s members, including Saleem Mulla, Mohammad Shareef, Mohammad Wajid, Syed Sadiq, Zakiuddin, Jailor Sagar Patil and Srimanthgouda Patil were present.
