Over 9.85 lakh voters of the district have exercised their franchise in the Tamil Nadu Assembly election held on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters after inspecting the sealing of strongrooms in the Government Engineering College here on Friday where the Electronic Voting Machines used in the 5 Assembly segments have been kept, District Collector R. Sukumar said a total of 9,85,227 voters including 4,69,054 male, 5,16,073 female and 100 other voters had cast their votes, which accounted for 78% voter turnout.
