The travelling public have urged the Southern Railways to consider their request for stoppage of new express trains that are expected to be operated from Mettupalayam Station from August, at Periyanaickenpalayam Station.
The Southern Railway has mooted to the Railway Board operating new train services from Mettupalayam to Rameswaram, Mangalore, Madurai, and Kannur, and extension of Train No. 20643/44 Vande Bharat Coimbatore-Chennai from Mettupalayam, for the convenience of Ooty-bound tourists.
The Southern Railway has also considered urbanisation of the stretch from Coimbatore City to Mettupalayam for introduction of the new train services.
