Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the World Cities Summit held in Singapore on Tuesday.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday pitched Amaravati as a future-ready global city and invited international investors, technology leaders and semiconductor manufacturers in Singapore to partner with the State government in its ambitious development plans.

Addressing the Leadership Plenary Session-II of the World Cities Summit on the theme, ‘Can Smart Cities Love Humans?’, Mr. Naidu outlined his vision for Amaravati as a people-centric, technology-driven and environmentally sustainable capital city. “The greenfield capital is being designed to offer high quality of life while promoting innovation, economic growth and social inclusion,” he said.

Describing Amaravati as a knowledge-based city with plans for world-class universities, a quantum computing hub, advanced digital infrastructure and green energy initiatives and sustainability, he said the capital would pursue net-zero development goals and feature underground utilities, dedicated cycling and walking tracks, a greenfield airport, iconic bridges and an integrated road network.

Highlighting the uniqueness of the project, Mr. Naidu said nearly 35,000 acres of land had been voluntarily parted by the farmers, making it one of the world’s largest participatory urban development initiatives. The government, he noted, had developed the land and returned a portion to the farmers as developed plots, ensuring inclusive growth.

Drawing parallels with Hyderabad’s emergence as a global technology hub, Mr. Naidu recalled his role in promoting IT and developing Cyberabad. “Andhra Pradesh is now focusing on emerging sectors such as AI, advanced manufacturing and semiconductors to drive future economic growth,” he said.

Later, at a Semicon Ecosystem Roundtable conference, the Chief Minister invited global semiconductor companies to explore investment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh. He said the State’s “speed-of-doing business” approach, investor-friendly policies and strategic location made it an attractive destination for manufacturing.

Mr. Naidu announced that a semiconductor manufacturing facility would soon be established in Rayalaseema and said the region had strong potential to emerge as a hub for defence, aerospace, electronics and automobile industries. Representatives from leading global semiconductor firms participated in the discussions.

The Chief Minister reiterated that Amaravati and Andhra Pradesh offered immense opportunities, and called upon investors to join the State in its next phase of economic and technological transformation.
