Medical Education and Skill Development Minister Sharanaprakash Rudrappa Patil said here on Saturday that a mega Udyoga Mela will be held in Mangaluru soon for the youth from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts.
Speaking at the inauguration of the new Karnataka German Technical Training Institute (KGTTI), the Minister said that so far in the Udyoga Melas held across the State, more than 30,000 youth have received employment.
Mr. Patil said the government has so far opened a total of eight KGTTIs, wherein one long-term and 31 short-term skill training courses are being conducted.
To provide skill training to more youth, the intake in the Government Tool Room and Training Centre (GTTC) has been increased from 2,500 to 6,000. It has been proposed to further increase the intake to 10,000. The GTTC provides a 100% placement guarantee for individuals who undergo training in the institution. As many as 20 new GTTCs have been set up in the State, the Minister said.
