Food safety officials in Salem have warned the public about the sale of sub-standard cool drinks, which typically enter the market during the summer.

For the past month, temperatures have exceeded over 100 degrees Fahrenheit in Salem and Namakkal districts, prompting people to turn to fruits, cool drinks, and ice cream shops to prevent from dehydration. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., people tend to rush to these shops. Employees, especially those in marketing and those who have to travel throughout day, prefer fruit juices and cool drinks.
