Journalists covering the 2026 Assembly election across the 10 Assembly constituencies in Madurai district had a tough time on the day of counting.

In some places, the basic facilities were not provided, while in other places they had a tough time in getting access to the counting centres.

Journalists covering counting at the Government Arts and Science College in Kappalur, counting centre for Thirupparankundram and Thirumangalam Assembly constituencies, complained about the lack of facilities at the media centre set up at the venue. The media centre was set up in a ‘shed’, they said.
