The Telangana High Court declined to interfere in a writ petition seeking a direction to stall the appointment of former Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy as State Security Advisor.
Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy, who heard the interim application filed by T. Dhangopal Rao seeking to stay the appointment of Shivadhar Reddy as State Security Advisor, declined to pass specific orders in the matter. Mr. Dhangopal Rao filed a writ petition questioning the appointment of Shivadhar Reddy, as DGP contending that it was in violation of the law laid down by Supreme Court in Prakash Singh case.
The petitioner maintained that there cannot be an in-charge DGP as the GO issued by the government said Shivadhar Reddy was being appointed as in-charge DGP. Even as the writ petition was pending for adjudication, Mr. Shivadhar Reddy had retired from service a few days ago and was appointed as State Security Advisor.
The petitioner filed an interim application questioning the fresh order issued by the government appointing the retired DGP as SSA. The judge, while hearing contentions of the petitioner’s counsel, noted that government appoints retired officers as Officers on Special Duty. The courts cannot interfere in such decisions of the government, the judge said.
The hearing of the main petition was adjourned to June 25.
