Coimbatore district recorded an overall pass percentage of 97.09 in Class 10 public examination results announced on Wednesday (May 20) for the 2025-26 academic year, with 36,742 students clearing the exam out of 37,844 who appeared.

The district improved its performance by 0.62 percentage points from the previous year’s 96.47 and secured the seventh rank at State level. Coimbatore had secured the 12th rank in 2024 and the sixth in 2025. The district had earlier topped Tamil Nadu in 2020 with a pass percentage of 98.10.

Among boys, 17,760, of the 18,506 candidates who appeared, passed the examination, recording a pass percentage of 95.97, compared to 94.92 in 2025. Among girls, 18,982 of the 19,338 candidates cleared the examination, taking the pass percentage to 98.16 from 97.96 last year.

In Coimbatore Education District, of 29,430 candidates who appeared, 28,616 passed, registering a pass percentage of 97.23. In Pollachi Education District, of the 8,414 candidates who appeared, 8,126 passed, recording a pass percentage of 96.58.

Among different school managements, tribal welfare schools recorded 100% pass, with all 85 students who appeared clearing the exam. Self-financing schools registered a pass percentage of 99.18, while partly aided schools recorded 98.19. Fully aided schools secured a pass percentage of 95.77.

Government schools recorded 94.55% pass. Of the 11,803 students who appeared, 11,160 passed. Corporation schools registered a pass percentage of 94.38, and Adhidravida Welfare schools recorded 94.20% pass.

Subject-wise analysis showed that English recorded the highest pass percentage among major subjects at 99.86. Of the 37,844 students who appeared for the subject, 37,790 cleared it.

Languages recorded a pass percentage of 99.42, followed by science at 99.11 and social science at 98.95. Mathematics recorded the lowest pass percentage among the core subjects at 98.47, with 37,265 students clearing the subject out of 37,844 who appeared.

All 24 students who appeared for optional language subjects passed.

A total of 251 schools in the district achieved a 100% pass. These included 52 government schools, 21 aided schools and 178 self-financing schools.

Tiruppur

Tiruppur district recorded an overall pass percentage of 96.28 in the Class 10 public exam. Of the 29,013 students who appeared, 27,933 cleared it. The district improved from last year’s pass percentage of 94.84 and secured 11th rank at State level, compared to the 17th rank in 2025 and the 21st in 2024.

Among boys, 13,400 out of 14,100 candidates passed, recording a pass percentage of 95.04. Among girls, 14,533 of 14,913 candidates cleared the examination, registering a pass percentage of 97.45.

A total of 345 schools from the district participated in the examination, of which 184 schools achieved a 100% pass.
