BJP State president P. V. N. Madhav has urged the government to take firm action against those involved in the attacks at Almaspet in Kadapa over the demand to rename the centre after Tipu Sultan.
In a press release, he said the government should treat the violent incident seriously and order an investigation to identify the anti-social elements and their supporters who allegedly orchestrated the attacks.
Mr. Madhav reiterated that the BJP strongly opposed the proposal to rename the area as Tipu Sultan Centre. He also urged the police to ensure that the issue did not take a political turn and appealed to the government to provide security for the bike rally organised by Hindu religious organisations.
