The Cyberabad Police arrested 154 persons and registered 61 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act during a major anti-drug crackdown conducted between April 1 and May 22.
Drugs worth an estimated ₹3.69 crore were seized during the enforcement drive carried out jointly by Cyberabad Enforcement teams and law and order police units.
Data shared by the police revealed that ganja accounted for the highest number of cases during the crackdown, with 42 cases registered, 559.618 kg ganja worth ₹2.79 crore seized and 108 persons arrested. In addition, two cases involving ganja chocolates led to the seizure of 28.225 kg and the arrest of four persons. Five hashish oil cases resulted in the seizure of 2.02 litres valued at ₹25.25 lakh, with 12 accused apprehended. In two methamphetamine cases, police seized 317.6 gm worth ₹63.52 lakh and arrested six persons. Another 10 consumer-related cases involved the seizure of 245 gm of dry ganja and 1.8 gm of MDMA, leading to the arrest of 24 persons.
Police appealed to citizens to cooperate with authorities and share credible information related to drug trafficking to help curb the menace.
