Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti V. Somanna has accused the Congress and its allies of citing opposition to delimitation of constituencies as a “lame excuse” to stall the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha.
Addressing a press conference in Mysuru on Wednesday as part of the BJP’s campaign to highlight the “anti-women” stance of Congress, DMK, TMC, Samajwadi party and their allies, Mr. Somanna said the proposed delimitation, which has been long overdue, would have helped not only increase the number seats in each State by 50 per cent, but also ensured 33 per cent reservation to women corresponding to the enhanced number of seats.
