Former Mizoram Governor and former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president Kummanam Rajasekharan has said that the three seats won by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Kerala will mark a significant turning point in the State’s political history. He was inaugurating a reception organised by the BJP east district committee for B.B. Gopakumar, the first BJP MLA from Kollam district representing the Chathannur constituency.
Drawing a parallel with other States, Mr. Rajasekharan said that the BJP rose to power in West Bengal and Tripura after starting with just three seats and a similar trajectory is now inevitable for Kerala. He added that the BJP’s growing influence signals a shift in the traditional political landscape of the State.
Criticizing the Left, the veteran leader remarked that the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] is on the verge of extinction due to its own governance failures and the collapse of its ideology. He pointed to leaders like P. Jayarajan seeking refuge in temples as evidence that their core principles have failed. He further targeted the Congress, claiming that democracy has vanished within its ranks, leaving behind only contradictions where the Indian Union Muslim League now dictates the party’s direction. The event was presided over by district president Raji Prasad while State committee member T.R. Ajithkumar delivered the keynote address.
