Farmer M. Thavasimuthu (53) of Koviloor near Devadanam was electrocuted to death when he came in contact with a snapped overhead power line on Monday. The police said that Thavasimuthu was going to his farm near Devadanam on Monday morning. However, he failed to notice that the overhead electric cable had got snapped due to overnight heavy wind. The man had reportedly stomped on it and was electrocuted at around 7 a.m. However, local people noticed him lying on the ground only around 10 a.m. After police rushed to the spot, the body was taken to the Government Hospital in Rajapalayam. The Seithur police have registered a case.
