The central Chennai region witnessed brisk polling on Thursday with Perambur recording the highest voter turnout at 89.79%, followed by Kolathur, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s constituency, at 86.11%.

Voters had to wait in long queues across areas. Lalitha, 74, of V.O.C. Nagar in Perambur constituency, said she waited for an hour to cast her vote but was able to sit inside the booth under a fan, which reduced the strain. However, she noted that earlier, another voter had fainted and was given first aid by the medical camp team at the booth.
