Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Thursday that a modern medical college and a hostel complex will be built in Dwarka at an estimated cost of ₹805.99 crore to strengthen health care services and address the increasing demand for doctors in the Capital.

Ms. Gupta said the state-of-the-art medical college and hostel facilities will be developed in accordance with National Medical Commission standards and are targeted for completion by 2028. “This medical college will be a major step towards strengthening health care services and medical education in Delhi,” she said.

In the initial phase, the college will admit 150 students, which will later be expanded to 250 MBBS seats, she said, adding that separate hostels for male and female students, faculty housing and a modern academic block will also be built as part of the project. Calling the project a long-term investment in Delhi’s health care future, Ms. Gupta said the government plans to turn the Capital into a “hub of medical education”.

Separately, Ms. Gupta and Union Minister for Communications and Development of Northeastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurated the renovated ‘Jan Seva Connect’ Nehru Place post office.
