A ‘Partial Emergency Mock Exercise’ was conducted at Mysuru airport on Tuesday to enhance its emergency response capabilities.

A statement here said the exercise was designed to address and rectify the deficiencies identified during the previous “Full-Scale Emergency Exercise’ while providing practical training to stakeholders and responding agencies.

The drill, which seeks to ensure compliance with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Civil Aviation Requirements, tested “inter‑agency coordination, operational readiness, and the effectiveness of emergency procedures in a simulated crisis scenario”.

The exercise drew active participation from JSS Hospital, Orient Flying School, Indigo Airlines, Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) from Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC and RI), and the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) under the Mysuru Deputy Commissioner’s Office.

The exercise was conducted under the supervision of Airport Director P. V. Ushakumari, with key leadership from Fire HOD Vijayan, Safety Manager Damu, and Safety Investigation Coordinator Raman Sharma.  

The Karnataka State Industrial Security Force (KSISF) and Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (ARFF) played pivotal roles, demonstrating coordinated and effective emergency response procedures, the statement said.  

Following the exercise, a structured debrief session was held to evaluate performance, identify gaps, and recommend corrective measures. “This continuous improvement process ensures that Mysuru Airport and its partners remain fully prepared to safeguard passenger safety and operational resilience,” the statement said.

Mysuru Airport will continue to conduct such exercises periodically, as mandated by DGCA, to strengthen crisis management capabilities and reinforce confidence among passengers and stakeholders, the statement added.
