The Sri Sathya Sai District Police launched a 10-day cricket tournament titled “Spoorthi” on Sunday (May 17, 2026), aiming to promote constructive youth engagement through sports, at the C.K. Palle mandal headquarters in the district.
Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar inaugurated the tournament at the Government School grounds. Police personnel from Ramagiri, Chenna Kothapalli Palle (CK Palle), and Kanaganapalli mandals will take part in the event, with a total of 54 teams participating.
Speaking to the media, the SP called on the youth and students to make productive use of their time and stay focused on education, careers, and personal goals instead of falling into crime, substance abuse, and other anti-social activities. Mr. Satish Kumar advised them not to get divided on caste, religion, or political affiliations, but to contribute towards social harmony and maintenance of law and order.
The SP warned the youth against offences involving women and children, warning that such acts could attract cases under the POCSO Act. He further urged them to strictly follow traffic safety norms, including the use of helmets and seat belts.
Highlighting the importance of sports, Satish Kumar said team spirit will help develop discipline, cooperation and leadership qualities among youth. He announced cash prizes of ₹40,000 for the winners, ₹30,000 for runners-up, ₹20,000 for third place, and ₹10,000 as consolation prize.
