Former Union Minister for Labour and Employment and former Governor of Himachal Pradesh and Haryana Bandaru Dattatreya on Saturday (May 23, 2026) said that the Union government’s new schemes, such as the Divyangjan Swavalamban Yojana, Divyangjan Kaushal Yojana, and Divyang Sahara Yojana, would ensure that Persons with Disabilities (PwD) can earn an income on their own and lead a respectable life in society.
He distributed artificial limbs to those in need at the Sri Gurudeva Charitable Trust located in Mangalampalem, Kothavalasa mandal, Vizianagaram district. Speaking on the occasion, he stated that the Union government was planning to set up Assistive Technology Marts to enable persons with disabilities to have easy access to artificial limbs.
Mr. Dattatreya urged the State government to give wide publicity to the new schemes launched by the Centre to enable eligible persons to easily access and submit applications online to departments such as the National Divyangjan Finance and Development Corporation to obtain soft loans. The founder of the trust, Raparthi Jagadish Babu, informed Mr. Dattatreya that the trust had established a general and cancer hospital to serve the poor patients of the North Andhra region.
