The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Jasmeet Singh Bindra as the Chairperson of the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA).

A 1997-batch Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer, Mr. Bindra will serve as a Joint Secretary-level officer under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

According to an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training, the tenure is set for five years from the date of assumption of charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Mr. Bindra will succeed M. Angamuthu, a 2002-batch Assam-Meghalaya cadre IAS officer.
