The Guindy police have arrested a 31-year-old man for allegedly filming a woman in a bathroom at a house in the locality.
The police said a 23-year-old woman, who lived with her friends in Guindy, lodged a complaint after the man allegedly filmed her with a mobile phone through the bathroom window in the early hours of Wednesday. After she noticed him, she confronted him and snatched his phone. The man allegedly abused her verbally and attempted to retrieve the phone. Hearing the commotion, nearby residents rushed to the spot, causing the suspect to flee. Later, when the woman checked near the bathroom, she found another mobile phone, allegedly kept there by the suspect. She handed over both mobile phones to the Guindy police and filed a complaint.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act (TNPHW Act) and launched an investigation. After investigating, the police arrested Mullainathan of Thiruthuraipoondi in Tiruvarur district. During the investigation, the police found that the accused lived with friends near the complainant’s residence.
