Union Minister for Textiles Giriraj Singh visited the Brandix apparel manufacturing facility at the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Achutapuram near Visakhapatnam on Saturday.
During the visit, the Minister lauded the organisation for its role in driving industrial growth and promoting women’s empowerment in the region.
Accompanied by Brandix India Director and Partner Doraswamy, Mr. Singh toured the factory floor and reviewed the manufacturing processes, export operations and employee welfare facilities. Impressed by the standards maintained at the facility, he commended the management for its commitment to quality and operational excellence.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Singh highlighted the textile sector’s significant contribution to the national economy, noting that it is the largest source of employment after agriculture. He emphasised the sector’s vast employment-generating potential, stating that an investment of ₹1 crore in the textile industry creates direct employment for about 50 people.
The Minister expressed satisfaction at seeing how industrial establishments such as Brandix have helped thousands of women from rural areas attain financial independence and improve their livelihoods.
