The Income Tax Department on Friday (April 17, 2026) conducted searches at the residence and election office of Debasish Kumar, a senior Trinamool Congress leader and candidate from the Rashbehari Assembly seat in Kolkata.  

Mr. Kumar, the sitting MLA from Rashbehari and a key party leader in south Kolkata, has earlier been questioned twice by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a land-grabbing case.
