District Collector O. Anand, who also heads the District Tourism Promotion Council, directed the Archaeology Department officials to hold consultative talks with members of the Jain community for the development of Jambudweepa Chakra (a Jain monument) located at Konakondla as a tourism site.
During a meeting on Tuesday (May 19, 2026), the Collector also instructed that Shilparamam in the city be developed as per the Master Plan and called for the establishment of necessary handicraft stalls and food courts at the venue.
In regard to the Kundurpi Fort, he ordered officials to formulate proposals for the construction of a pathway leading to the fort. He directed that measures be taken to establish a walking track within the National Park and the creation of ‘Giri Pradakshina’ (circumambulation path) around Rayudu Konda hill.
Mr. Anand ordered the installation of restroom facilities wherever necessary across all temples and tourist sites throughout the district. He stated that historical sites and landmarks have been identified in the city and directed officials to work with the Municipal Corporation to install signboards at these locations that provide historical context and information.
