Directing officials to complete the State’s three under-construction greenfield ports by the end of 2026 and expedite work on fishing harbours to strengthen maritime infrastructure, Roads & Buildings, Investments and Infrastructure Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy held a review meeting on Monday.
Chairing the meeting at the Secretariat to review the progress of greenfield ports and fishing harbours, the Minister said the coalition government led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was extending full support for the timely completion of port development projects.
Mr. Janardhan Reddy instructed officials to immediately bring unresolved issues affecting construction works to the government’s notice and ensure that projects progress without delay. He stressed the need for better coordination among departments to complete all works as scheduled.
Reviewing the status of the Mulapeta Port project, the Minister directed officials to resolve issues related to salt lands, road and rail connectivity, rehabilitation and resettlement, and other infrastructure facilities. He said dredging works could be completed on time if the rehabilitation of Mulapeta village was expedited, enabling the port to become operational by the end of the year.
With regard to the Machilipatnam Greenfield Port, the Minister asked officials to speed up breakwater and dredging works and improve rail connectivity, power supply and drinking water infrastructure. He also directed officials to resolve dredging and rehabilitation issues at Ramayapatnam Port and ensure that Phase-I works of the fishing harbour projects are completed on schedule.
Investments and Infrastructure Special Chief Secretary M.T. Krishna Babu, Maritime Board CEO Abhishek Kumar and other senior officials attended the meeting.
