Marking the Chitra Pournami day, the annual festival at the famous Mangala Devi Kannagi Temple situated on the borders of Tamil Nadu and Kerala drew huge turnout of devotees from both the States on Friday.
Amidst tight checks by the police and forest department personnel, devotees were permitted to enter the reserve forest area. For those from Tamil Nadu side, people trekked for about 6.5 kilometres from Vinneripaarai near Gudalur. Devotees from Kerala side, were fortunate enough to hire jeeps from Kokkarakandam and reached the shrine which covered 14 kms distance.
