Of the four Assembly constituencies of Ramanathapuram, Thiruvadanai, Paramakudi (SC) and Mudukulathur in the district, DMK has won in three and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in one.
The three sitting DMK MLAs, R.S. Rajakannappan, Katharbatcha Muthuramalingam and K.K. Kathiravan won in Mudukulathur, Ramanathapuram and Paramakudi with a margin of 16,598, 12,459 and 3,548 votes, respectively.
