The former Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) A.S. Kiran Kumar has urged youth to adapt to emerging technology warning them if they do not do so, they can lose their jobs.

Dr. Kumar was speaking after inaugurating the academic activities of the new engineering college of Future Forge Engineering Academy on the KH Patil College campus of Vemana Vidyavardhaka Sangha in Vidyanagar Hubballi on Sunday.

“A revolution is taking place in the field of AI technology and if we understand it, our achievements will become easier. We should all first understand ourselves and realise our true potential. It is very important to know how to adapt ourselves to the changing world. It is not enough to pick up skills in only one field. There is a need for multi-disciplinary skills and demonstrable talent,” he said.

Later, he told reporters that technology is constantly advancing in every walk of life and educational institutions should prepare the younger generation in facing them.

“In today’s competitive era, the use of science and technology is growing rapidly and everyone needs to develop skills accordingly. Institutions should increase the quality of education and find new ways to imbibe innovation in the teaching learning process,” he said.

Since 1947, India has made significant achievements in the field of science and technology, including information technology and research in related areas. ISRO’s contribution has been unique. It is lauded for its outstanding achievements in rocket launching, lunar missions, weather anomalies, atmosphere and understanding current affairs, he said.

Law and Tourism Minister H.K. Patil, chairman of Vemana Vidyavardhaka Sangha D.R. Patil, member of the governing body and MLA N.H. Konaraddi, chairman of the engineering college governing body Ramesh Jangal, retired scientist of ISRO R.V. Nadagouda and others were present.
