Speaking about the summer season, Mr. Modi said mangoes remain an inseparable part of Indian households and culture. He praised farmers engaged in mango cultivation and highlighted how Indian mangoes are increasingly reaching global markets, strengthening the country’s agricultural economy.

“Today, through Mann Ki Baat, I want to praise my farmer brothers and sisters involved in mango cultivation. You are not just ordinary farmers; you are playing a significant role in strengthening the nation’s agricultural economy,” he said.

Reflecting on his recent visit to the Netherlands, the Prime Minister described it as a significant step in strengthening India’s international partnerships. He also spoke about the return of rare Chola-era copper plates by the Netherlands, describing them as invaluable historical treasures that offer insights into the maritime strength, governance, and international relations of the Chola empire.

Vigilance during heatwaves

Mr. Modi also underlined the importance of environmental conservation and highlighted efforts to protect the endangered Ganga river dolphin. He called upon citizens to actively participate in preserving biodiversity and natural ecosystems.

The Prime Minister urged people and local administrations to remain vigilant during heatwaves and work collectively to minimise their impact. He also appreciated grassroots initiatives such as the work of Saji Valasheril in Kerala, who has trained thousands of people, including specially-abled children, through swimming programmes.

Encouraging scientific curiosity among young people, Mr. Modi highlighted astronomy outreach initiatives by organisations such as Astro Kerala, the Bangalore Astronomical Society, and the Big Bang Astronomy Club of Rajkot. The Prime Minister concluded by sharing the inspiring story of educator Girija Amma, whose initiative of collecting one rupee daily from students for soldiers raised nearly ₹40 lakh, calling it a shining example of patriotism and collective responsibility towards the nation.
