Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has said that the Central government has spent nearly ₹13 lakh crore in Telangana over the past 12 years through various developmental initiatives and financial assistance programmes.

The State had received approximately ₹1.18 lakh crore as its share of Central taxes and nearly ₹1 lakh crore in grants-in-aid, Mr. Sanjay said while addressing an “Intellectuals Conference” in Karimnagar on Sunday.

He said that the Centre had extended nearly ₹10,000 crore to the State in the form of interest-free loans repayable over a period of 50 years, with the Central government bearing the entire interest burden.

The Centre had constructed the new Charlapalli Terminal Railway Station at ₹413 crore. As many as 40 railway stations are being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, he said, adding that more than 5,000 kilometres of highways had been constructed in Telangana during the past 12 years at around ₹31,000 crore.

Under the Bharatmala Pariyojana, highway corridors spanning 1,719 kilometres have been sanctioned at ₹38,297 crore. Overall, the Centre has spent nearly ₹1.15 lakh crore on highway infrastructure development projects in Telangana.

Mr. Sanjay criticised the Opposition parties accusing them of spreading misinformation about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
