Groups of people have begun to travel from Tiruchi to perform the Islamic pilgrimage of Haj in Saudi Arabia in recent days, despite the tense geopolitical situation caused by the Iran-US war in West Asia.

Recently, The Muslim Literary Society (MLS), a community organisation based in Singarathope, held a felicitation programme for 279 male and female pilgrims from Tiruchi district registered with the Haj Committee of India, a statutory body under the Central Ministry of Minority Affairs, who will be travelling via Chennai to Saudi Arabia from the first week of May.
