Of the 65,000-odd farmers in the district, 4,306 farmers are yet to register their names for getting the Unique Identification Number, which has been made mandatory by the Union Government for availing the welfare measures meant for agriculturists.
According to District Collector A. K. Kamal Kishore, farmers of the district had been advised to register their names and other allied information required for getting the Centre’s Unique Identification Number, which has been made mandatory for availing the welfare assistances being given to agriculturists by the Central and the State Governments. The farmers have to upload details about the extent of their holdings and the area of land they had taken on lease, Aadhaar number, mobile phone linked to the Aadhar number, bank account number, crop cultivation etc.
Officials from the Departments of Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing, Agro Business and ATMA (Agriculture Technology Management Agency) will record these information. After recording the details, each farmer is given Unique Identification Number so that these agriculturists can easily avail the benefits of Prime Minister’s Kisan Honorarium Scheme and other welfare schemes meant for them.
Since the farmers did not show any interest in uploading these information, awareness programmes and special registration camps for 15 days were organised across the district since June 23 last year. Moreover, the farmers were asked to contact the nearby Agricultural Officers or Horticultural Officers for more information and clarify their doubts.
However, 4,306 farmers of the district are yet to upload their details for getting the Unique Identification Number and hence they they may not be able to avail the benefits or welfare assistances meant for the agriculturists.
“We have made extensive arrangements in the Common Service Centres, Agricultural Extension Centres and also in the special camps being organised in the villages for uploading the relevant information of the farmers. Since May 30, 2026 will be last date for uploading these information for getting the unique identification number, the agriculturists should upload these details before this deadline, which is the last chance,” Mr. Kamal Kishore said.
