The Andhra Pradesh State committee of CPI(M) condemned the alleged threats made by Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan against political analyst K. Nageshwar and demanded immediate withdrawal of the remarks and police cases filed against him.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, CPI(M) State secretary V. Srinivasa Rao expressed solidarity with Mr. Nageshwar and appealed to the democratic forces to support him.

The CPI(M) leader stated that the comments made by Mr. Nageshwar during a television debate regarding an alleged discussion involving former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Mr. Pawan Kalyan and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, had triggered controversy in recent days, following which the analyst withdrew his remarks.

Despite the JSP reportedly stating that it would not pursue the matter further, CPI(M) alleged that complaints were lodged in multiple police stations, leading to registration of cases against Mr. Nageshwar, and they called the move undemocratic.

The party further alleged that remarks made by Mr. Pawan Kalyan during a Jana Sena meeting in Rajahmahendravaram appeared to intensify the controversy. Statements such as “every action has a reaction” and “karma spares no one” were interpreted by CPI(M) as direct threats against the political analyst.

The CPI(M) said such comments from a person holding a key position in government raised concerns about freedom of expression and democratic rights. The party urged Mr. Pawan Kalyan to withdraw his remarks immediately and called upon Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the coalition government to clarify their stand on the issue.
