Poet-lyricist Vairamuthu focused on the literary heritage of Tamil writer and rationalist K. Subburathinam, popularly known as Bharathidasan, at the latter’s birth anniversary celebration hosted by the Centre for Bharathidasan Studies of Bharathidasa/n University on Wednesday.
In his keynote address, Mr. Vairamuthu said that Bharathidasan’s songs should be sung aloud in front of his statue twice a week, and that the varsity should work to promote his work throughout the campus.
P. Selvakumaran (former head of the Department of Tamil Studies, St. Joseph’s College) presented his thoughts and reflections on the poet.
Faculty and students from various departments of Bharathidasan University attended the event.
